Prager Straße is the main shopping street in Dresden. It was laid out in connection with the Bohemian Railway Station, later the main railway station, in 1851. Around 1860 there were still villas in large gardens here, and by 1900 it was already the busiest street in Dresden. Today, Prager Straße is home to several department stores and hotels, and the futuristic UFA Palace is worth seeing off to the left. Towards the main railway station you can still see socialist architectural buildings, such as a prefabricated slab building built on supporting pillars.
