On the occasion of the 250th anniversary of Caspar David Friedrich's birth, the Dresden State Art Collections invite you to an impressive special exhibition in the Albertinum (24.08.2024-05.01.2025) and the Kupferstich-Kabinett (24.08.-17.11.2024).

For more than four decades, Dresden was shaped by the work of this outstanding painter. His fascinating landscape paintings, characterised by intense colour and deep emotionality, have had a lasting influence on our view of nature.

Caspar David Friedrich. Where It All Started - The Painter

In the exhibition at the Albertinum, Friedrich's works are juxtaposed with important landscape paintings from Dresden's Old Masters Picture Gallery that inspired him. Friedrich's extensive networks in Dresden had a decisive influence on his artistic development and reveal the complexity of the art world in the 19th century. In addition to his works, numerous loans from renowned German and European museums will also be presented.

Children and young people under 17 are admitted free!
