Fresh, colourful and full of creativity – that is how Dresden Elbland greets the spring. Festivals, bursting with life and fresh ideas, bring a wonderfully fresh wind into the region! Come and see the spring flowers in the baroque Palace in the Grosser Garten Park or let yourself be carried away by the best short films of the world.
- In Dresden Elbland mother nature is waking up from her winter sleep. How fitting then that the spring flower exhibition "Dresdner Frühling im Palais" (Dresden’s Spring in the Palace) will be on display in the Palace in the Grosser Garten Park from 2 till 11 March. This biennial Gesamtkunstwerk is now being shown for the seventh time. True to this year’s title "Blüten. Lieder. Frühlingsglück" (Flowers. Songs. The Joy of Spring.) you can stroll through a sea of flowers and the fragrance of spring – accompanied by beautifully atmospheric sounds and light installations. The concept for this year’s exhibition was inspired by popular folk and springtime songs.
- "It’s your right to have to laugh!" The Dresdner HumorZone (Dresden’s Humour Zone) is back! For the fourth time the event’s patron and "Dresden’s poster child" Olaf Schubert is bringing more than 100 artists onto 13 stages in just 5 days. From 7 till 11 March you can take in the complete current range of on-stage humour, from comedy to cabaret, from newcomer to star.
- Multi-facetted, international, inspiring, that is the 30th Filmfest Dresden. On 6 days, from 17 to 22 April, moving and inspiring short films from around the world will be shown in Dresden. Special highlights: the national and international competitions for the best short film.
- What would spring in Dresden Elbland be without art and culture! Fresh and inspiring ideas can be found at the traditional Meißner Grafikmarkt (Meissen Graphics Market) on 10 and 11 March. In the historic vaults of the Albrechtsburg Castle in Meißen, 50 exhibitors will be showing their art and inviting the visitors to take their favourite one back home with them. Friends of the theatre should take note of the Großenhainer Theatertage. Children and young adults can take part in numerous workshops on acting, improvisation and make-up, learn about theatre and make friends from 13 to 22 April. And if you are more into dance, then April is also a good month for you: the international festival for dance "Tanzwoche Dresden" will take place from 19 to 29 April. This year the festival has a special focus on cultural exchange and open-mindedness. United by the themes of "inclusion" and "addiction!" artists from around the world will be presenting physically and spiritually moving pieces.
