Brilliant cultural experiences

In Dresden, culture provides a change of pace, new impressions and new ways of seeing things. As we move into the colder, darker time of the year, Dresden’s calendar of events shines even more brightly with concerts, contemporary art and cabaret.

  • With German and international jazz stars playing in the city’s clubs and concert venues, the Jazztage Dresden give the month of November lots of musical highlights. Silje Nergaard (8 November), Curtis Stigers (9 November), Tom Gaebel (12 November), The Puppini Sisters (19 November) and Meret Becker (22 November) can be heard on stage at Erlwein-Capitol in Ostragehege. Al di Meola will be playing at the Dresden State Operetta on 13 November and Klaus Doldinger at the Staatsschauspiel theatre on 26 November.

  • Every fall, the Dresden Festival CYNETART is a meeting point for artists from various countries. They will be presenting their works, that look at the artistic potential of today’s media, in the Hellerau Festival Theatre from 16 to 19 November. CYNETART is considered to be one of the most important podiums for contemporary media art in the German-speaking world. The programme for 2017 also includes concerts and a series of lectures that looks at topics such as the cultural aspects of perception.

  • The performing arts flower all year through in Dresden – the fall and winter are no exception. A cultural highlight in November is the International MimeTheatreFestival from the 9th to the 12th. The mimes perform and give workshops in Dresden’s theatres. You are invited to join in the festive finale on 12 November at the "Impro-Abschlussgala" (Improv Closing Night Gala) in the AUGUST theatre on Bürgerstraße.

  • Winter sports on the theatre stage? That’s kind of like the "Striezelmarktwirtschaft" at the Dresden Breschke & Schuch cabaret. It combines an Advent theme with a massive attack on your funny bone. Starting 29 November, the cabaret artists give a biting, Dresdner revue of the almost finished year. Visitors of the Striezelmarkt can go straight from there to the "Striezelmarktwirtschaft". A polished ending for 2017.
